Guarded by the famous 24 foot tall totem pole, known as Chief Little Owl, Bethany's ocean beaches offer many recreational opportunities including swimming, fishing, surfing as well as boogie board and raft riding.
Bike on well-marked lanes throughout the area, or hit an off-road course. Kayak and sail on the bay or the ocean. Tee off on a wide variety of championship courses. For those who just want to soak in the sun, grab a beach chair and a book and head for the shore. Bethany Beach has a lovely small town charm, and has been frequented by generations of families. Recent beach replenishment projects have expanded the beaches, for those who enjoy a little fun in the sun, and built up the dunes, in order to preserve and protect the inland areas.
